Hi there,
We are the Wilsons
Sonni and Bob were married in 2023. Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, they settled in a beautiful town in Southwest Virginia, to be closer to their granddaughter in Greensboro and to find a quiet refuge for Sonni to write her book(s).

About Us

PPE (Protect, Prevent, Empower) Kids was created by Osona (Sonni) Steave-Wilson, a Human Resources professional with over 17 years of experience and Bob Wilson, a former Ordained Pastor.
After coming to terms with being a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, Sonni decided to dedicate herself to learn more about this epidemic and how she can make a difference. She became a facilitator/trainer with Darkness to Light (an internationally known organization that specializes in training childcare workers in child protection methods).
Additionally, she also received her certification in Trauma and Resilience from Florida State University. After this she looked for more ways to prevent other children from suffering the same fate she had to endure.
In working with her husband and partner Bob Wilson, they researched and found that churches are often a soft target for child abuse predators. Most churches don’t have the funding or manpower for through background checks, many are unaware that standard background checks don’t include the National Sex Offender Registry; most don’t have the staff to manage the process and maintain proper records.
After praying and seeking God for direction, they decided to combine Sonni’s HR knowledge with Bob’s ministry experience to offer a service that fills in the gaps that many churches or synagogues have. PPE is focused on Protect, Preventing, and Empowering places of worship, by providing proper background checks, implement HR polices to support these checks, and ensure child protection
training is mandatory and happening for all staff members and volunteers. All of which would be done at no charge to churches. This way, religious organizations can focus their time on helping people grow in their faith while remaining in legal compliance and keeping them safe.
